NWMP
Have you ever wondered about the history of the North West Mounted Police? Come on lets go into
history. Fred Bagley was a North West Mounted Police which means that he helped make people safe. To become an NWMP, you had to be 18-40 to join or else you could get hurt. They got paid $0.75
every day for sub constables and $1.00 for constables. The N.W.M.P wore bright red jackets so that they could get seen from a long way away .Around 400 men were trained for the new force . The N.W.M.P* helped people for 3 reasons: They tried to stop the whiskey trade The N.W.M.P* had to bring law and leadership, and had to make the places controlled. They also tried to show that the western prairies were controlled by Canada. On July, 8th 1884 some people from the force west of Dufferin were going to go to fort whoop up. Their task was to find fort whoop up and destroy the whiskey trade. The many officers who went to fort Edmonton and fort Macleod took many supplies for example: 142 oxygen for pulling carts, 310 horses and many more items. Fort whoop-up was very far from duffrerin, I think is about 1300 km far. In 1920 the North West mounted police became responsible of the law enforcement across Canada and that is how their name was changed to Royal Canadian mountain police.
*N.W.M.P stands for North West Mounted Police

One of Fred Bagley’s values was caring because he helps his friends, he was nice to all of them and that is how you have to be to become an N.W.M.P or else you could possibly not join because you have to be just right for the job.He was very committed to
riding around helping the North West Mountain Police and the people who needed help.I think Fred Bagley believed he does not have to follow the rules because he did not listen to some of the police members and he only does what he thinks of inhis mind.I think another value he has is strength because he was very strong and was very fit because he rides his horse and he lifts heavy materials.I think he believes that you should help people and be very kind to them and whoever you meet because he was very friendly to all his friends and treated them like a family member. He probably values adventure because he goes on an adventure with the North West Mounted Police to find fort whoop up and he was very helpful to them.
