Why were the fur traders important? The furs traders lived close to the river because there were lots of beavers there. The French and Europeans would trade pots, guns and cloth to the First Nations
people for beaver furs. Then the First Nations people would trade the French and Europeans beaver furs and buffalo. They would trade all kinds of fur such as buffalo fur and beaver furs. They do not trade for fun but they trade if they have too much of something and they get things that they don’t have.
FACT ABOUT THEIR LIFE
what happened in his life? Anthony Henday was a convicted smuggler hired by the Hudson’s Bay Company. In 1754, he was asked to paddle up the Saskatchewan River. His goal was to persuade the First Nations
people, who were buffalo hunting to bring the hides to the Hudson’s Bay Company posts. Anthony Henday travelled further west than any European explorer before him. The First Nations people told him they would not want to make the journey north to the Hudson’s Bay Company. He failed to make a deal with the First Nations people and in 1762 he quit.
What did he change? Anthony Henday tried to change how the First Nations people traded with the Europeans but he was not successful. He did achieve travelling further west than any other explorer, which probably led the way for other explorers. He was considered the first native to see the Rockies.
I believe Anthony Henday valued travel because he traveled up the Saskatchewan River. I think he also valued hard work because he had to paddle up the Saskatchewan River for a long time. I consider him to value kindness because he was a kind person to make the big trip up west to persuade the First Nation people to bring more hides to their trading posts.
