IVAN PYLYPOW ONE OF THE FIRST UKRAINIAN SETTELERS WHO FIRST CAME TO CANADA/ ALBERTA
Ivan Pylypow was born in September 28th 1859. Ivan Pylypow died on October 10th 1936. Ivan Plypow’s name was changed in 1893 when he came back from Canada. He is descried as Jan Pilipoli. Ivan Plypow came back to his home place Nebyliv with his friend Wasy. Pylypow and Eleniak travelled to Halifax, Winnipeg and Manitoba where they met several German loggers who had worked for Pylypow. Ivan’s home town was Nebyliv but when he came to Canada that was then his home town but he never forgot his home that he was from. Just think moving away from your home, your town, and most of all your family this is what Ivan Pylypow wanted to do. He did this just to go to Canada where his adventure started. How he heard about Canada was from his Nabors. His Nabors heard that he wanted to go to Canada so they told him about Canada and the free land there. Ivan thought this is where I can get a farm and not have to pay for it every month. So he packed his bags and went off to Canada. In Canada the government had two things of land from the Huston’s bay company and the CPR (Canadian Pacific Railway). Some Ukrainian settlers who wanted some farm land so they could farm then they did get that land. Ivan Pylypow was the first Ukrainian to first come to Canada. He came to Canada with his friend Eleniak. They both loved to work on their family farms when they were kids.

EARLY LIFE ABOUT IVAN PYLYPOW
When Ivan was a little boy he always worked on his family farm. He loved to work on it. In fact farming was a big thing back in those days. First when the Ukrainians came to the First Nations People they brought all kinds of diseases to the First Nation’s People the First Nations People didn’t know how to take care of those diseases. In Ivan’s life some people were really poor. People were really poor because they can’t own their own land because the government said they can’t own their own farm either. Some people were really poor so poor that they didn’t even have any money to buy the things that they needed, everybody who had a farm or a house would have to pay for it every month including their things that they need to live and to keep healthy. Many people went and did things on others farms on purpose. During the late 1800s and 1900s many people from Europe, Untied States and Ukraine came to the Canadian West.
