Father Lacombe
What happened in the early settlement? What happened was that missionaries wanted the fur traders to
stop killing so much buffaloes because they killed 75000 buffaloes in 1830 and
1870 and there hides were shipped to eastern Canada and the United States. There was also a treaty
that is like a contract to split the land .Some first nations wanted crowfoot to
sign a treaty so the fur traders won’t kill a lot of buffaloes so agreed that
they would kill some buffaloes and not kill as many the next year so they won’t
get instinct .The first nations also were promised some farming equipment like
seeds, farm animals, and farming instruction.
